STRESS & LIFESTYLE COACHING · BAY AREA & VIRTUAL
You’re not burned out because you’re weak.
You’re burned out because you never stopped.
Wellness coaching (not therapy) for working professionals who are high-functioning on the outside and running empty on the inside. It’s a forward-focused process for building a different relationship with how you work and live.
The first step is knowing what you're actually carrying.
DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?
You’re probably here because…
“I’m good at my job. I just can’t seem to turn it off.”
“I’ve optimized everything except how I actually feel.”
“I don’t think I need therapy. But something has to change."
“I took a vacation. I didn’t actually rest.”
“I know what I need to do. I just cant make myself do it.”
“I’m tired of performing wellness instead of feeling it.”
Stress in tech isn't just about workload. It's about the way high performance becomes a baseline and how quickly you stop noticing what it costs you. It shows up in your sleep, your energy, your relationships, and the small daily habits that hold everything together.
These patterns have names. The Stress Pattern Self-Check identifies which of these are primary for you, so we're never guessing at where to start.
THE STRESS PATTERN SELF-CHECK IDENTIFIES YOUR PRIMARY DRIVERS
8 Stress Patterns We Work with
Cognitive Overload
Too many open tabs in your brain. Decision, tasks, and unfinished thoughts competing for the same limited bandwidth all day, everyday
Emotional Reactivity
Small things hitting harder than they should. Your nervous system is so primed that the ordinary feels overwhelming.
Digital Overstimulation
Can’t stop scrolling, can’t fully focus. Your brain is being pulled in seventeen directions and genuine rest feels impossible.
Environmental & Sensory Overload
Too much noise, too much light, too much input. Nowhere in your day to genuinely decompress. Stimulation as a constant state.
Attention Fragmentation
Can’t finish a thought without being pulled away. Deep works feels out of reach. You end the day having done a lot of and completed nothing.
Relational Pressure
Walking on eggshells at work, at home, or both. The energy it takes to manage dynamics and read the room is quietly exhausting.
Physical Nervous System Activation
A body that won’t settle. Tight shoulders, disrupted sleep, a low-grade hum of tension that doesn’t go away even when nothing is wrong.
Meaning & Identity Disconnection
Good at your job, but unsure it means anything anymore. High performance on the outside, quiet emptiness on the inside. The drift is real.
UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE: COACHING VS. THERAPY
| Therapy | Coaching with Avril | |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Why you feel the way you do | What you want to shift and how |
| Direction | Past patterns and healing | Present clarity and forward momentum |
| Format | Diagnosis, treatment, clinical framework | Collaborative, structured, action-oriented |
| Assumption | Something needs to be healed | You're already capable — let's unlock it |
| Ends with | Insight and understanding | A specific experiment to try before your next session |
Coaching and therapy are both valuable. They’re just different tools for different moments.
Therapy is the right place to start if you're navigating trauma, a mental health diagnosis, or need clinical support. I'm happy to help you find the right referral. If you're ready to shift how you're living and working, let's talk.
EVIDENCE-BASED FRAMEWORK
The Approach Behind Wellness Coaching
Self-Determination Theory
Your motivation is rooted in autonomy, mastery, and connection. We design change around what actually drives you, not what you think should.
Motivational Interviewing
No one tells you what to do here. This is a reflective, non-directive process that helps you surface your own clarity and your own commitment to change.
Appreciative Inquiry
Instead of diagnosing what’s broken, we explore what’s possible. Sessions are guided by curiosity, not correction.
Neuroplasticity & Habits
Your nervous system is adaptable. Sustainable change is biological and learnable. Small, repeated shifts rewire the pattern.
Self- Efficacy Theory
Confidence in your ability to change is itself a skill. We build it through small, real wins instead of empty affirmations or motivation tactics.
Transtheoretical Model
Change isn’t binary. We meet your at your actual stage of readiness not where you think you should be. No forcing. No timeline shame.
Positive Psychology
We work from your strengths. What’s already working and how do we build on it? That’s always the starting question.
Every lifestyle and stress management coaching session at Well With Avril are structured around these evidence-based framework. These coaching foundations are also adapted for how each client thinks and lives.

01 Before your first session
Health intake form
Completed when you book. A short self-reported snapshot of how your body is currently carrying stress from sleep quality, energy patterns, physical tension, digestion, caffeine and alcohol habits, weight, and more.
If you have recent results from your doctor (i.e. bloodwork, blood pressure readings, or notes from a physical), you’re welcome to include them. They give us a richer starting point. If you don’t have them, your own lived experience is enough. The form guides you through what to notice.
Takes about 5–10 minutes to complete
Avril reviews before your session so nothing gets missed
This is not a clinical diagnostic; it’s simply a fuller picture of you
02 First stress management coaching session - 60 minutes
Assessment, vision, first experiment
Every wellness coaching session begins with a short grounding breathwork practice to help your nervous system recognize this as a different kind of space. Most people arrive still mid-sprint. The breathwork opener changes that.
From there, we use your stress check results and health intake as our map. We look honestly at what’s going on and then we flip the lens:
“What would be possible in your life without this?”
That question becomes your north star. You’ll leave with a personal vision statement and your first small, specific lifestyle habit experiment to try before we meet again.
Grounding breathwork open (5–7 min)
Stress check + health intake debrief
Vision statement: what becomes possible without the stress

Meet Avril
Hello!I know what it feels like to be high-functioning while slowly drifting away. I spent years checking milestones off my list.
Graduated top of my class
Attended a prestigious university
worked in corporate tech
That experience is both my story and my foundation. I became a wellness coach and yoga instructor because I wanted to offer something I wished I’d had: a space that isn’t about fixing yourself, but about returning to yourself.
My work blends evidence-based coaching, breathwork, mindful movement, and nervous system practices grounded in the belief that sustainable change comes from self-awareness and aligned action, instead of pressure and willpower.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Wellness coaching is not therapy and Avril is not a licensed therapist. Coaching is a forward-focused, action-oriented process. It does not diagnose, treat, or address mental health conditions. If you need clinical mental health support, Avril can help connect you with the right resources.
-
Therapy often focuses on understanding past patterns and healing. Coaching focuses on where you are now, where you want to go, and how to get there. The two can complement each other. Many clients see both a therapist and a coach.
-
No, it’s optional. But it’s recommended because it gives both of us a clearer starting point, and it qualifies you for 50% off your first session. Takes about 5 minutes.
-
A short self-reported form you’ll complete when you book your first session. It captures how your body is carrying stress right now — sleep, energy, physical symptoms, lifestyle patterns, and more. If you have recent results from your doctor (bloodwork, blood pressure), you can include those too. If not, your own experience is enough.
-
The first session is 60 minutes. Follow-up coaching sessions are 30 minutes. All sessions begin with a short grounding breathwork practice.
-
Both. Virtual sessions are available to anyone. In-person sessions are available in the Bay Area, CA.
-
Weekly is recommended, especially at the start. Consistency is what makes the micro-habit approach work. Each session builds on the last experiment. That said, we’ll design a cadence that fits your actual life.
-
Start with the stress check. It’s free, takes 5 minutes, and gives you a personalized picture of where you are. You’ll know quickly whether this resonates. No obligation to book.
